Presearch and Google might just be a means of searching the internet for the average consumer but these two search engines are radically different and can both alter your perspective of the world around you. So in this blog post I hope to breakdown the differences and provide some background history then give a conclusion on the topic.
Presearch
A summary: Pre is a decentralised crypto currency run on community operated nodes.
Pros:
No 3rd party tracking.
No centralised entity controls the data or algorithm for search results.
Transparent and community driven.
Get paid to make searches.
Doesnt sell data to 3rd parties.
Cons:
Ai controls the algorithm to filter inapropriate content.
Community must agree to what is best for its growth.
A summary: Google is a centralised search engine that the comminity has no control over or stake in.
Pros:
Has a plethora of products build around their service.
Shows information in a prioritized order and extracts information to show a summary.
Cons:
Manipulates search results.
Censors information
Sells your data.
Creates shadow profiles based on your history.
Tracks your online activity and behaviour to train AI.
As you can see Google does a lot more with your search results than Presearch does, there is plenty of articles which have investigated googles poor practice and their shady behaviour regarding search results. They also have a poor record with user data, something which they exploit for their own profits.
